Majestic Wine the latest retailer to commit to Living Wage

General RetailNews

Majestic Wine has become the latest company to agree to pay its workers the voluntary Living Wage, a rate which is higher than the statutory figure recently announced by the government.

The UK‘s largest wine specialist is also the first national alcohol retailer to become an accredited employer of the Living Wage Foundation.

The company joins 2600 other employers who choose to pay £9.40 per hour in London and £8.25 outside the capital.

The government‘s statutory rate, announced by earlier this year, is £7.20 for employees aged 25 and over.

Majestic Wine says it already pays the Living Wage to all staff across the country.

“I‘m very proud that Majestic is now an accredited employer of the Living Wage Foundation and I hope other retailers follow,” Majestic Wine people director Louise Ellis said.
