Fashion retailer JD Williams has launched its debut budget selection of clothing aimed at taking on high street giants Marks & Spencer and Next.

The price promise collection called “The Cut” launched by the womenswear specialist will feature a selection of key products with lower prices at the beginning of the season, undercutting rivals who discount later in the season.

Items like a cotton parka retails at the N Brown Group‘s JD Williams stores for £65, whereas a comparative item at Next or M&S would cost at least £75.

“This is about giving customers the best prices when they are most useful – at the start of the season. It isn‘t a sale – it‘s more a promise to our customers: the best products at the best prices,” N Brown chief executive Angela Spindler said.

“We‘ve price matched more than 200 products against our competitors‘ – and then lowered them even further.

“As we‘ll soon be moving into the colder months, customers are naturally tightening their belts as they face higher energy bills.

“Add the uncertainty following the Brexit vote and it‘s a tough time to be a consumer. As a retailer, it‘s is our duty to offer the best value and quality to shoppers when they need it most.”
