Reports have emerged that the New Look‘s head of digital has left the retailer to start up his own consultancy firm.

According to Retail Week, a spokesperson from New Look has confirmed that group digital director Jack Smith has stepped down, but it is not yet known who will replace him.

Smith joined the high street chain in February 2014 and was responsible for its digital channels and digital growth across all of New Look‘s markets.

In particular, he was responsible for the launch of New Look‘s ecommerce businesses in France and Germany and established its presence in the Chinese etail market place Tmall, which is owned by Alibaba.

While Smith‘s previous role was with Deloitte, the early days of his career were spent with Marks & Spencer.
