German womenswear brand Oui has announced plans to open 10 franchise stores across the UK in 2017.

The brand is in discussion with partners at key shopping locations across the country including Oxford, Maida Vale in London, Fulham and Guilford, and aims to open 30 – 35 stores across the UK in the next five years.

Despite being stocked in heritage department stores John Lewis and House of Fraser, along with 200 independent retailers across the county, this will be the first time Oui has operated its own stores in the UK since the 1980‘s.

The brand shut down its stores in the 1990s to focus on its wholesale operation, however the owners are keen to keep the expansion franchised. Co-owner Alon Junger said: “We don‘t want to go back down the route of owned stores.

“It‘s better to partner with entrepreneurs who are entrenched in their local communities.”

The company has over 50 stores internationally including 40 stores in its home country of Germany, along with 10 in Austria and three in the Netherlands.
