Sofa.com recorded a 28 per cent rise in sales in its latest trading update, driven by new store openings in London and online expansion in Europe.

The British furniture retailer said new customers to its Islington and Bankside stores in London accounted for 73 per cent of bed orders in the 12-week period to January 9.

In that same quarter, digital sales went up by 38 per cent after Sofa.com established an online presence in Ireland and Germany.

“The strong results are due to a number of changes made to the business over the last year,” Sofa.com Vince Gunn said.

“At the heart of our brand is a focus on world-class customer experience, online and in-store, and we have successfully emulated this in our new showrooms.”

Sofa.com currently has eight stores and now trades online in 12 countries.
