Victoria Gate named world’s best shopping centre

Victoria Gate has been crowned the Best Shopping Centre in the World after being open for just five months.

The Leeds-based shopping centre was awarded the title at the MIPIM Awards in Cannes.

Designed to resemble a modern Victorian arcade, the luxury shopping centre was the UK‘s only major retail scheme launched last year.

Now the largest premium retail destination in northern England spanning 53,400 sq meters, the £165 million development is anchored by department store John Lewis.

The shopping centre delivered over 1500 job opportunities throughout its development.

The Victoria Gate Fund also contributed £30,000 of funding and supported 12 local projects in Leeds that help develop the employment skills and experience of young people.
