Amazon Dash expands with 20 new buttons

Amazon is expanding its Dash button service with 20 new brands added to the range, less than a year after it was introduced in the UK.

Amazon Dash button are wifi-connected buttons which automatically order household products when pressed.

The buttons, which come with reusable adhesive and removable hook to enable use anywhere around the house, are linked to the Amazon shopping app and orders are made through an Amazon account.

Duracell, Glade and Heineken are among the 20 new buttons being added to the Dash range in the UK, and cost £4.99 each – although that amount is essentially returned to users as a discount on their first order using a button.

The buttons only allow single orders at a time by default, and users receive a notification confirming an order – which can be cancelled up to 30 minutes after the button is pressed.

“Customers love the convenience of Dash buttons – feedback has been hugely positive, and we also heard loud and clear that customers wanted more brands and more products across more retail categories,”  Amazon services vice president Jorrit Van der Meulen said.

“Today we’re excited to add even more top-name brands for customers, extending the programme to cover dozens of retail categories, with new Dash buttons from customer-favourite brands like Duracell, Glade, IAMS, Heineken, Mr Muscle and Tassimo.”

Amazon Dash was first introduced in the UK in August last year.

Since then, Amazon said  London, Manchester and Edinburgh have become the most popular areas for using the buttons, with Andrex, Finish and Ariel revealed as the most popular Dash button brands.
