Ebay Live launches in the UK with comedian Katherine Ryan

Ebay is launching its first ever eBay Live event in the UK, hosted by comedian Katherine Ryan and the marketplace’s pre-loved style director Amy Bannerman.

The livestream, which premieres at 8pm on 1 May, will allow consumers to shop for exclusive pre-loved clothing in real time, will all funds being donated to the Women’s Health Information & Support Centre (WHISC) charity.

The shopping experience will include a range of outfits from Ryan’s own wardrobe, with fans able to purchase looks worn at her comedy shows, on the red carpet, and on her TV show The Duchess.

All of the garments will be available as ‘buy it now’ via Messina Hembry’s Ebay store, a pre-loved, vintage shop on the platform.

Alongside Ryan’s pieces, the livestream will offer Ebay archive pieces, including Love Island star Tasha Ghouri’s finale dress sourced by Bannerman, and an impressive selection of pre-loved clothes from Hembry.

Ryan said: “I’ve always enjoyed being playful with clothes and am known for my sense of style so I’m really excited to be partnering with Ebay to clear out my wardrobe now there are no fashion fees to sell pre-loved fashion. I’m always dressing up for events and am a huge fan of buying and selling on Ebay to find fashion gems.

“For the very first Ebay Live in the UK, I have included pieces from my Netflix series The Duchess and other iconic events so tune in to hear more about my worn-once show stopping fits which I hope will bring others as much joy as they have to me!”

Earlier this month, Ebay UK scrapped selling fees for pre-worn clothing on its website in an effort to encourage circular fashion.

The retailer said the move was prompted by its consumer research that found only 25% of shoppers sold their unwanted clothes, despite 92% of adults saying they had more than one item of clothing they hadn’t worn in the last 12 months.
