Hugo Boss is primed to open its first store in Southampton in a “fantastic result” for the Westquay shopping centre as it continues to attract luxury retailers.

The upmarket fashion retailer has signed a 2116sq ft lease at the Hammerson-owned shopping centre as it continues its year-long improvement programme, which will see the addition of a leisure and dining extension Westquay South.

It marks the latest in a string of luxury signings including jeweller Liang Edinburgh and upmarket footwear brand Russell & Bromley.

“Securing Hugo Boss for Westquay is a fantastic result and signals that demand from premium brands for prime retail space remains strong,” Hammerson’s UK commercial director Iain Mitchell said.

“We have been focused on implementing a proactive asset management strategy to attract more aspirational, high-end retailers to this part of the centre to better serve customer demand, and I am delighted to see the success of that strategy.”
