John Lewis Partnership appoints Andy Martin to the board

The John Lewis Partnership has announced the appointment of Andy Martin to the board as a non-executive director.

He has also been appointed as the chair of the partnership’s audit and risk committee.

Martin succeeds Baroness Sarah Hogg who joined the partnership board in 2011 and whose term of office ended on June 30.

Martin brings a wealth of experience, having worked as a chartered accountant and was until 2015, group chief operating officer for Compass Group in Europe and Japan.

Prior to that, Martin held a number of senior finance roles

Martin has also been a non-executive director of easyJet since 2011 and in 2016 became a non-executive director at Intertek Group and a senior independent non-executive director at recruitment company Hays in 2017.

“Andy’s wealth of business and financial experience will complement the strength of the board and we are looking forward to his input in shaping the continued development of our It’s Your Business 2028 strategy,” John Lewis Partnership chairman Sir Charlie Mayfield said.

“I would also like to personally thank Baroness Hogg for the valuable contribution she has made to the Partnership over the past seven years.”

The John Lewis Partnership board said its three non-executive directors are chosen because of their independence, external business experience and the different perspectives they bring.

They do not form part of the executive management team and they are not partners in the business.
