Boots begins trial of student discount scheme

// Boots launches student discount trial scheme
// 10% discount in-store and online for eligible university and college students
// Trial ends July 31, but it could become permanent afterwards

Health and beauty retailer Boots has launched a trial of a discount scheme for college and university students shopping in-store and online.

The scheme, launched last week, gives eligible students a 10 per cent discount at a till point.

It trial will run until July 31.

Students can activate the student discount in store by showing a Boots Advantage Card and a valid NUS card or university or college student ID at a till point.

The discount will be added to the Boots Advantage Card for all future transactions and students that don’t have an advantage card can sign up in store or online.

The discount is available online through a unique code from Student Beans.

On top of the top 10 per cent discount, Boots said students would receive four points for every £1 they spend with the advantage card.

“We are excited to announce we have started a student discount trial in-store and online,” Boots marketing director Helen Normoyle said.

“We recognise the value of the student market and want to help make life a little easier.

“That’s why, on top of our generous Boots Advantage Card we’re also offering an extra 10 per cent off – whether it’s a meal deal to keep hunger at bay, a new look for the weekend or health and beauty essentials we want to help keep students looking and feeling great.”

She added that the scheme could potentially become a permanent part of Boot’s value offer once the trial period ends.
