Dixons Carphone appoints new international boss

// Dixons Carphone international boss Jaan Ivar Semlitsch steps down
// Former chief financial officer Erik Sønsterud will replace Semlitsch
// Semlitsch is joining Norwegian conglomerate Orkla as its new chief executive

Dixons Carphone has appointed its former chief financial officer Erik Sønsterud as international chief executive following Jaan Ivar Semlitsch’s resignation.

Semlitsch is joining Norwegian conglomerate Orkla as its new chief executive, while Sønsterud joins as international chief executive after overseeing the performance and development of Dixons’ Nordic strategy for the last two years.

He will report directly to Dixons Carphone chief executive Alex Baldock.

Semlitsch has been serving at Dixons Carphone international business for the last seven years and resigns after leaving the business in a “healthy financial position as market leader in every country”.

Baldock said: “Erik’s experience of understanding customer needs and helping them afford and enjoy products and services makes him well placed to lead our international business and support us all on our journey towards our vision – we help everyone enjoy amazing technology.”
