// Birks is set to start in the role on August 2nd
Ryman has announced the appointment of Peter Birks as its new chief executive.
Birks, who has 15 years of leadership experience, holding positions at Office Depot, Staples and recently chief executive at Tuffnells, will join the retailer at the beginning of August.
At Ryman he will be expected to help further grow the business in key markets and channels, deliver industry leading customer service levels, create a compelling place to work for colleagues and use technology to drive the business further.

The role, based in Crewe and London, will focus on the digital side of the business, in synergy with the store portfolio.
Birks will lead all day-to-day operations for Ryman, reporting into Kypros Kyprianou, group chief executive of the Theo Paphitis Retail Group.
Ryman said his in-depth knowledge of retail, office supplies and the electronics sector, would immediately add value to the business
