Marks & Spencer launches Sparks promotional extravaganza with 4.5m free gifts up for grabs

// Marks & Spencer launches a two-week spectacular of “daily personalised offers, giveaways and discounts” designed to drive customer adoption of its app
// There are £1.5m worth of M&S giftcards to be won, alongside 4.5 million free product giveaways on customers’ favourite items – including on M&S’s roster of third-party brands for the very first time

Following on from the success of its popular Sparks Advent Calendar back in December, starting Wednesday 2 March M&S is launching ‘Big Sparks Giveaway’ – a two-week campaign available exclusively on the M&S App, that will give its 14m+ Sparks customers daily personalised offers, giveaways and discounts simply for shopping with the retailer.

While the promotion is expected to appeal to existing Sparks members it is open to anyone who signs up to the scheme and downloads the M&S app during the promotional period.

A similar advent calendar promotion last Christmas resulted in 300,000 downloads of the M&S App over 12 days.

Every Sparks customer who has downloaded the M&S App will have the chance to win their share of £1.5 million worth of M&S giftcards and 4.5 million free product giveaways – or their entire shopping basket for free every single day.

For the duration of the campaign, M&S is bolstering its popular Surprise & Delight competition so that one Sparks customer at every M&S store will be randomly picked to win all of their shopping for free every single day, up from the usual rate of one customer per store per week.

Whether you’re buying one item or 100 items, all you need to do is scan your digital Sparks card at the checkout to be in with a chance of winning; more than 82k customers have already won their shopping for free in this way via Sparks.

Prizes include discounts on the products they love, to free product giveaways, as well as experiences money can’t buy, like exclusive tickets to Percy Pig’s 30th birthday party.

Other prizes on offer include personal stylist sessions with M&S experts, personal cookery sessions with M&S Chef Chris Baber, and third-party experiences like free spring days out & discounted adventure cinema tickets.

For the very first time, offers on M&S’ range of complimentary third-party brands will also land for Sparks customers across the campaign.

Marks & Spencer head of loyalty Danielle Papagapiou said: “Customers get the best out of M&S and Sparks when they use our app, but we know that not all of our customers realise this.

“That’s why we’re launching the Big Sparks Giveaway: to encourage more customers to have our app at their fingertips so they can enjoy all the benefits it provides, from free treats and personalised offers to handy in-store tech like Scan & Shop.”
