Gieves & Hawkes has been put up for sale after its Hong Kong owner went into liquidation.

The luxury retailer, which is located on London’s famous Savile Row, is seeking a new buyer.

The shirtmaker is part of Trinity Group, a Chinese company controlled by the Shandong Ruyi Technology Group.

The sales process, which is expected to complete later this year, is being run by FTI Consulting in Hong Kong and the UK.

Last month, Gieves & Hawkes secured a credit facility for an undisclosed sum from restructuring firm Hilco.

In November, the retailer and sister brands Kent & Curwen and Cerutti faced a winding-up order  in a Hong Kong court after Trinity defaulted on a loan.

Shandong Ruyi Technology Group appointed liquidators in December, which threatened to shutter Gieves & Hawkes.
