// The extension comes as consumers struggle during the cost-of-living crisis

Asda has extended the 10% discount available for Blue Light Card members, which is now in place until the end of the year.

The grocer made the announcement following concerns that the discount scheme was to be removed on 31 October.

The extension comes as consumers struggle during the cost-of-living crisis and food prices continue to rise.

Introduced earlier this year, the Blue Light discount gives an additional 10% off to all workers from across the NHS, emergency services, social services, the social care sector and the army.

The scheme can be used to reduce the cost of food and soft drinks, George clothing and homeware, toys, gifts, optical and the Christmas range.

Customers who qualify can now use the discount until 31 December 2022 when shopping in Asda stores across the UK.

Blue Light Card CEO Tom Dalby, said: “We are really proud of our partnership with ASDA and know how much our members have enjoyed using the discount.

“I hope the extension of this exclusive 10% discount helps families and individuals across the UK have a magical Christmas at a time when many need it most.

“Asda has always done so much to show its appreciation to NHS staff and other frontline workers, and this partnership will support millions of blue light workers in the country.”

Hi .not complaining but its not 10% discount. Just spent £56.56 on groceries in Asda and received £2.45 Bluelight discount. Which is less than 5 %

If found it doesn’t apply to items where there is already a discount. So I bought 6 bottles of wine (Christmas presents) and there was 25%off already so it didn’t take anything the 10% off those which is fair enough I think.
