Boohoo is to make redundancies in its London office, with 100 roles under threat.

Staff working across the ecommerce, buying and design departments at the online retailer’s Soho office are currently undergoing a consultation, according to The Times.

The retailer plans to move teams from its recent fashion acquisitions, including Oasis, Karen Millen, Dorothy Perkins, Wallis, Coast and Burton, under Debenhams.com.

A final decision has not been made about the number of jobs that will be cut.

The online fashion giant has been struggling of late. It posted a 94% slump in full year profits early last year as it battled soaring logistics costs and waning demand, and revealed in September that its first-half sales were down 10%.

Boohoo told the newspaper that the job cuts were in line with its aim to improve its operational performance.

It said: “Our people teams will be supporting those potentially affected [by the job cuts].

“We are committed to our portfolio and believe that all of our brands have a significant role in the ongoing success of the group and are maximising their individual potential for growth.”
