Lidl has seen its plant sales surge thanks to Miley Cyrus’ new hit song ‘Flowers’.
The German discounter said its flower plant sales rose by 52% thanks to new song, which was released worldwide on January 12.
The song encourages people to embrace singlehood and purchase flowers for themselves. It has reached the top spot on the UK’s music charts last week after racking up 203 million global streams.

Lidl’s fresh flower selection starts from a price range as low as 99p.
The grocer said it is committed to sourcing its plants and flowers from suppliers who “uphold high social and environmental standards, and work with suppliers that have internationally recognised schemes to accredit these practices”.
In 2020, Lidl launched its first permanent range of Fairtrade Flowers in the UK, sourced from Kenya.
“Our Fairtrade flower supplier has established a range of programs and opportunities to support their employees, the local community and the environment from investing their Fairtrade premium,” Lidl said.
“This investment is wide ranging, from building new classrooms to avoid overcrowding at the local schools, to funding new hospital equipment, as well as reforestation projects and adult education courses.”
