Mango sales surge 20% as expansion drive continues

Mango has seen revenues rise 20% year-on-year to £1.24bn in the six months to 30 June – up 30% compared to 2019, surpassing pre-pandemic figures.

The strong sales were driven by “good company performance” in key markets, including Spain, the US, Turkey, India and Italy.

Chief executive Toni Ruiz attributed the positive results to the Spanish fashion retailer‘s unique design and style, as well as its ambitious plans for international expansion.

Mango is currently undergoing an expansion drive, including upping its presence in the UK, as it opens more than 40 new stores across the world since last December, bringing the global store portfolio to 2,615.

Back in May, it revealed plans to launch 13 new stores across the UK after opening the doors to its newest 4,800 sq ft space in Westfield Stratford City.

At the time, director of expansion and franchises Daniel López called the UK “one of the key markets for Mango’s international expansion”.

The company added that it has continued to grow its online channel, posting sales rise close to 10% year-on-year during the six-month period, driven by the increasing popularity of its Mango App.

Ruiz said: “Our customers value Mango’s unique design proposal and style and we are currently engaged in an ambitious plan of international expansion, in order to continue inspiring the world with our passion for fashion and lifestyle Mango. The positive results in the first half of the year strengthen our business model and our ecosystem of various channels and partners.”
