Waitrose stores are preparing for the ‘biggest breakfast of the year’ ahead of the Women’s World Cup final this Sunday.

The upmarket retailer has stocked up on breakfast staples such as bacon, eggs and sausage ahead of the kick off, as football fans gather to watch England be in for a chance of winning their first World Cup title since 1966.

Uber Eats and Deliveroo orders are set to be in high demand, as searches on Waitrose.com for ‘brunch’ are already up +54% on last week.

Sales of children’s football boots in John Lewis department stores are also up 115% this week, while sales of TVs have climbed by 25% on last year.

Customer director at Waitrose Nathan Ansell said: “All the ingredients for a great brunch will be flying off the shelves quicker than a Lauren Hemp strike.

“Customers are already looking to celebrate with cooked breakfasts – and some chilled fizzed in readiness for a potential win.

“We expect Deliveroo and Uber Eats to be busy with enthralled fans unable to tear themselves away from the action to secure their last minute snacks.”

Retailers are forecast to earn £464m over the FIFA Women’s World Cup, as viewers stock up on supplies ahead of the game.

Savings website VoucherCodes.co.uk revealed 21.9m football fans were predicted to watch the competition and that 87% of them were set to be watching from home.
