ASC targets European growth with senior hire

Technology-led logistics company Advanced Supply Chain (ASC), part of Reconomy, has appointed Simon Sexton as vice president of sales Europe, following the opening of its new European operating facility in Germany.

Sexton has previously led the growth of logistics companies opening in Germany for the first time, and oversaw the launch of XPO and Savino Del Bene in the country.

In his new role, Sexton will draw on more than 20 years’ supply chain experience to establish ASC’s new 21,647 sq m facility in Nettetal and expand the company’s European footprint.

ASC invested £60m into opening its new Nettetal operating facility in July 2023, and recently announced the appointment of general manager Damian Leszczyński.

The site provides a range of value-added services covering pre-retail, returns processing, fulfilment, wholesale distribution, and transportation to retailers and consumer brands across Europe and the UK.

Sexton said: “ASC has developed omnichannel supply chain strategies in some of the world’s most advanced ecommerce markets and it’s exciting to be able bring this best practice to Germany and other European countries seeing fast growth in online shopping.

“Countries such as the UK are years ahead in terms of developing fast, slick customer returns processes, and integrating automation and digitalisation to optimise supply chains.

“ASC’s experience in these areas, backed up by Reconomy’s extensive capabilities will create opportunity to innovatively meet European demand for leaner, more circular supply chains.”

ASC COO Ben Balfour added: “Simon is an excellent addition to our growing European team. He brings a wealth of experience and truly understands the opportunities and challenges facing omnichannel supply chains.

“From enhancing agility and resilience, through to minimising margin dilution and integrating customer returns, Simon shares our confidence that we can satisfy growing demand throughout Germany and Europe for more intelligent, data-driven supply chains.”

Sexton added: “Together, ASC and Reconomy have experience and insight that can deliver genuine end-to-end supply chain solutions, which support retailers’ goals to be more resourceful.

“It’s an approach backed-up by unique and bespoke supply chain technology that will appeal to businesses prioritising efficiencies to meet cost pressures and to improve supply chain sustainability.”

ASC plans to establish a workforce of 150 employees at its new European operating facility over the next 12 months, with this growing to 400 jobs by the end of 2026.
