Superdrug reveals Christmas gifting predictions for beauty

Superdrug has shared its predictions on the trends it expects to see from shoppers over over the festive season this year.

The health and beauty retailer said it has seen unit sales of Christmas gift sets increase in recent weeks, as shoppers start their shopping, adding that premium fragrance products are seeing “particularly strong growth” as customers seek quality products at great value.

Superdrug chief commercial officer Simon Comins predicts that “money-saving beauty bundles are expected to feature heavily amongst the best sellers as consumers look at ways to make their money stretch further this Christmas”.

He adds that “premium perfumes will continue to remain a popular gift choice”, as Superdrug brings in new premium perfume brands to stores and online to provide customers with a wider choice for Christmas.

“We’ve already seen sales of premium fragrance increase in recent weeks with shoppers taking advantage of the great deals we have on offer and our collect in store delivery service, where customers can order any of our premium fragrances to their local store,” said Comins.

“Investment in skincare is a trend that continues to grow and we expect Christmas to be the time where people ask for premium skincare products to get them through the new year.”

The retailer has introduced a host of premium skincare brands such as Vichy and La Roche Posay as well as its new own-brand mini trending products, ideal for stocking fillers with price points starting from £2.

Superdrug also thinks beauty tool and brush kits continue to trend as shoppers experiment with their looks, taking inspiration from social media.

At the start of the month, the business kicked off its Black Friday promotions two weeks early for its Health and Beauty card members.

The drugstore retailer offered exclusive early access to its loyalty members to help its customers that are “looking to spread the cost of Christmas this year”.
