Boohoo is set to close its Daventry warehouse as it looks to streamline its distribution network, placing around 400 jobs at risk.

The fast fashion etailer opened the Northamptonshire distribution centre in 2021 following the acquisition of Debenhams and Arcadia Group brands Burton, Dorothy Perkins and Wallis.

The site is in the same location as the former Arcadia warehouse and saw 330 of the collapsed fashion group’s employees transferred to Boohoo as part of the deal.

The fashion retailer launched a consultation late last year and is organising a careers fair for the some 400 employees affected before the warehouse closes, Drapers reported.

It comes just a month after it was revealed that Boohoo is closing its Wellingborough distribution centre in Northamptonshire, which put 420 roles at risk.

The fashion etailer only set up the Wellingborough warehouse in April last year to service its Boohoo, BoohooMan, MissPap, Karen Millen, Coast, Dorothy Perkins, Oasis, Burton, Wallis and Debenhams brands.

The closures follows the opening of Boohoo’s US distribution centre in Pennsylvania last year and a £150m investment in its Sheffield warehouse, which is now fully automated.

A spokesperson for Boohoo Group told the publication: “For the past three years, our Daventry distribution centre has played an important role in Boohoo Group’s UK operation. We would like to thank colleagues for their hard work during this time.

“As our business and customer needs evolve, the group has taken the difficult but necessary decision to close our Daventry operation and divert investment to other UK sites, in order to better serve our customers around the world.

“We are working closely with all affected colleagues to ensure they are fully supported throughout this time.”
