Shein targets Boohoo suppliers amid UK expansion

Shein is understood to be in the process of onboarding several Boohoo suppliers as it ramps up its UK expansion plans.

The fast fashion retail giant sent an invitation email to suppliers used by Boohoo late last year, with some now in discussions with the business’ Chinese office in Guangzhou, Drapers reported.

In an email sent to prospective suppliers, the retailer said: “We are writing this letter to tell you that we are looking for suitable suppliers around the world and also hope that your company is interested in cooperating with us.

“According to preliminary understanding, your company has good experience in fashion, manufacturing and design. We would like to learn more about your company.”

The news comes as Shein rapidly expands its presence in the UK, with the appointment of former Boohoo-owned Pretty Little Thing buying director Gemma Dunne as its first ever chief product officer.

Dunne is tasked with growing a Manchester-based team of around 15 staff to create a UK-trend driven brand.
