Superdrug has frozen prices across 5,000 of its makeup products, in celebration of becoming the number one retailer for cosmetics in the UK mass market.

The move, which comes under the retailer’s ongoing commitment to support shoppers during the cost-of-living crisis, ensures that customer favourites such as Rimmel, E.L.F and Maybeline will remain the same price until the summer.

The news comes as the business held more than 40% share of mass market cosmetics in February, representing its highest market share in a decade.

Superdrug trading director Megan Potter said: “We are thrilled to become the number one retailer for cosmetics. Our commitment to offering great quality and affordability to our customers is at the heart of everything that we do.

“As a leading health and beauty retailer, we pride ourselves on putting our customers first and we’re committed to making cosmetics more affordable for our shoppers and supporting them with the rising cost of living.”

In January, Superdrug slashed the prices of more than that 150 health and beauty essentials to make them more affordable for shoppers.

The retailer cut the cost of selected own-branded items across make-up, hair accessories, medicine, toiletries and baby toiletries by up to 50%.
