Zara to ‘significantly expand’ Liverpool ONE flagship

Zara is set to significantly expand its flagship store at Liverpool ONE which will open later this year.

The fashion giant’s store on South John Street will be undertaking a “substantial refurbishment and expansion”, covering 42,000 sq ft, up from 27,000 sq ft, to allow for an increased offer of menswear, womenswear and kids wear.

The revamp will also include new in-store technologies, such as self-service areas and online order collection points.

The Liverpool ONE store revamp aligns with Inditex’s strategy of creating larger flagship stores for Zara, featuring enhanced brand experiences such as expanded product ranges and digitally enabled services.

The expansion also increases the total trading footprint of Inditex-owned brands within the scheme to 68,000 sq ft. Other group companies at Liverpool ONE include Bershka, Stradivarius, and Pull&Bear.

Grosvenor director of asset manager Rob Deacon said: “Zara choosing to increase their investment in Liverpool ONE is a testament to the location’s reputation ais a destination for flagships.

“As one of Liverpool ONE’s leading retailers, we have no doubt that the upsized anchor store will only serve to strengthen Zara’s sustained demand and loyal customer base in Liverpool.”

Last month Inditex posted a near 30% jump in full-year profits which it attributed to the “strong execution” of its business model and ongoing investment into its retail offer.

Inditex noted its growth was “underpinned by the investment in stores and the advances made to the online sales channel”.
