In pictures: Finisterre launches new Covent Garden flagship

Cornish fashion brand Finisterre has opened a new flagship store in Covent Garden, marking the largest of its 11 retail spaces in the UK.

The 2,702 sq ft site on 47-49 Neal Street, replaces the retailer’s previous Covent Garden store on Earlham Street, Seven Dials, which permenantly closed its doors last week.

Finisterre supplied Finisterre has upsized by 80%, which it said represented its continual growth and vote of confidence in Shaftesbury Capital’s Covent Garden.

Inside, the shop is stocked with its everyday garments for men and women, as well as its performance wetsuit, swimwear, and accessories ranges.

Additionally, the space houses the retailer’s third in-store Lived and Loved repairs workshop and a chillout area, complete with coffees and a record player, and has been designed to transform into a 50-seater cinema.

A series of community events are also set to be hosted at the store, which it said are likely to include yoga classes, outdoor get-togethers, and film nights.

Finisterre supplied As well as garments built to withstand the elements, the company said artifacts built by some of the world’s most skilled surfboard shapers would also be on show at the shop.

The flagship opened on 13 May, with a full weekend of launch celebrations set to follow, including in-store gifting for its first 100 customers on 18 May.

Finisterre supplied Finisterre founder Tom Kay said: “The timing feels good for us to be moving our London flagship store to Neal Street, in Seven Dials, Covent Garden. The open layout and increased size of the store will give our customers the ability to engage with the full product range in one place.

“It also means that we can run a wider events programme to better cater to our growing community in the capital, enabling more people to get involved in our ocean film screenings, talk nights, and live music.”

Earlier this year, Swedish streetwear and footwear retailer Axel Arigato opened a new flagship store in Covent Garden.

The store marks the brand’s second location within the Shaftesbury Capital portfolio following the opening of a store on Broadwick Street in Soho.
