Footwear chain Schuh has stepped up its commitment to disability equality by rolling out single-shoe purchases for shoppers with a disability or limb difference.

Shoppers will be able to buy a single shoe from 30 August across all of the brand’s stores, by phone, or via its online customer experience team, Drapers reported.

The single shoes, which will be taken from a new pair, will also have a 50% discount applied.

Schuh chief retail officer Neil Partington said: “Creating an inclusive shopping experience is a key part of our business strategy. I am delighted to be able to roll out single-shoe purchases to all Schuh stores.

“We have been doing it via our customer experience team for some time, but now, even more people will have access to our hottest brands and products through this inclusive product offering.”

Schuh joins other retailers in ramping up their disability inclusion efforts, with Primark introducing adaptive clothing to its stores earlier this year.

Last year, Superdrug also updated its website with new accessibility features as it sought to make it more inclusive and accessible for people with disabilities.
