Frasers Group managing director of sport Ger Wright will leave her role next month, the retail giant has revealed.
Wright, who joined the Sports Direct owner back in 2022, will exit her role on 30 November but will remain on the board as a non-executive director.
Frasers said that since her appointment, Wright “has made a significant contribution to the execution of the group’s elevation strategy”.
It said its sports proposition has “evolved during her tenure” with the introduction of its running and outdoor concepts, the onboarding of new brands, and international expansion into new markets.
“Ger leaves behind a talented and ambitious team who will continue to evolve and drive the elevation strategy in sport,” said Frasers.
Prior to joining the business, Wright spent 16 years at Nike, leading merchandising at its marketplace business across EMEA.
Chief executive Michael Murray said: “Ger has been an exceptional leader for Frasers Group and we are grateful for her contribution. We look forward to continuing to benefit from Ger’s sector expertise as a non-executive director as we further accelerate the group’s ambitions in sport.”
Last month, Frasers made a series of strategic acquisitions and partnerships in the Benelux region, strengthening its international ambitions.
In the Netherlands – following the acquisition of Sprinter stores earlier this year – the group is opening nine new Sports World stores. Four of these have already opened, with an additional five locations confirmed to open by the end of the year.
The group also plans to open two Sports Direct stores in Luxembourg and one in Belgium in the coming months.
