Matalan chief customer and omnichannel officer Ali Jones has left the business after almost two years.

Jones, who joined in April 2023, has become the latest executive to leave the retailer after Drapers reported last week that chief trading officer Ben Smith had stepped down.

During her tenure, Jones was responsible for leading the retailer’s marketing, ecommerce and international teams.

A Matalan spokesperson told the publication: “Ali Jones, Matalan’s chief customer and omnichannel officer, has left her role with the business. We thank Ali for her contribution to Matalan and wish her all the best for the future.”

The pair’s departures come as the fashion retailer is still searching for its new chief executive following the abrupt departure of Jo Whitfield in October.

Matalan reported it had cut its pre-tax losses by 44% to £60m in the year to 24 February, despite a 6% dip in sales as the value giant cut down on discounting.
