Vision Express promoted its current retail director Steve Worboys to the role of managing director.
Worboys will serve as boss of the business’s UK & ROI optical retailers to include Vision Express, David Clulow, John Lewis Opticians and Harrods Opticians from this month.
The executive has been retail director of Vision Express since 2021, and brings over 20 years of experience across the UK retail sector to the role.
During his time at Vision Express, the retailer said he had been a “principal member of the executive leadership team under which the business has undergone a successful transformation as part of its integration into the EssilorLuxottica group.”
Prior to joining the eyeware company, he served as head of retail at Lloyds Pharmacy, where he spent two years leading its UK pharmacy retail business.
He also previously held senior customer experience and retail planning roles at Sainsbury’s Argos.
Worboys said: “I am delighted to be leading the UK and ROI optical retailers businesses for our global eye care leaders EssilorLuxottica.
“As part of this group, we will continue to innovate the market with products such as our advanced eye test and popular eye care plan delivered with our brilliant colleagues and to provide our customers with the most premium shopping experience with the biggest selection of the brands, we know our customers love.”
Last year, Vision Express unveiled a new £4m flagship on London’s Oxford Street following months of renovations.
The store at 181-183 Oxford Street features a “smart, contemporary, and warm environment” spread across three floors to showcase over 3,000 pairs of glasses from more than 90 brands.
