M&S has unveiled a raft of changes to its leadership team as part of its ongoing transformation of its clothing, home and beauty division.
Current MD of the retailer’s clothing & home arm Richard Price, who’s been in the position since 2020, will be stepping down after a handover period at the end of April.
Price will be succeeded by former CEO of Boohoo Group John Lyttle, who joins the high street retailer on 3 March.
Lyttle brings a wealth of experience in retail and transformation, having spent five years at Boohoo and nine years at Primark as COO.
M&S chief executive Stuart Machin said: “Thanks to Richard’s leadership, the Clothing, Home & Beauty business is now on a much stronger footing with improved product.
“Style perceptions have increased consistently and our lead on quality and value has extended, driving growth in sales and market share. Richard leaves the business as a long-standing friend of M&S and we wish him the very best.”

The retailer has also promoted director of womenswear Maddy Evans to the role of M&S Woman, expanding her responsibilities to include lingerie. While Charlotte Davies, who recently joined M&S from Hunkemöller as director of lingerie, will now report to Evans.
M&S has also poached Amazon Fashion’s European business development director David Brittain as its new director of home and beauty.
Brittain, who will join the retailer at the end of April and succeeds Heidi Woodhouse, brings extensive experience in both stores and online retail, having held senior positions at Amazon and previously at Parfums Christian Dior and John Lewis.
Machin added: “There remains much to do and so much opportunity in this next phase of our plan to reshape M&S for future growth. Changes underway to embed strategic sourcing partnerships, a modern planning platform and an efficient logistics network are nascent and there is lots to do to develop a truly omnichannel Clothing, Home & Beauty business.”
Commenting on his new role, Lyttle said: “M&S is somewhere I have always wanted to work, and it is a real privilege to join the Clothing, Home & Beauty business at a time when there is both so much momentum and opportunity. I can’t wait to get started.”
Price added: “I am proud to have helped rebuild the M&S Clothing, Home & Beauty business and led a team that has transformed product, grown sales and market share, and, most importantly, restored confidence. I feel now is the right time for me to step away from full-time executive life and I am pleased to be handing the baton to John.”
