Primark has announced plans to significantly expand its store at White Rose Shopping Centre in Leeds, increasing its retail footprint from 26,200sq ft to 55,700sq ft.
The fashion retailer‘s expansion is set to begin on this week, with completion expected by 2027.
This expansion follows similar trends within the centre, with other retailers, such as JD Sports, upsizing their space at White Rose. JD Sports recently tripled its footprint at the shopping centre, moving into a new 15,537sq ft unit.
Landsec head of brand account management Pablo Sueiras said: “Retailers are increasingly investing in bigger, better stores to bring their brands and products to life. With the best, high-footfall locations, these spaces serve as platforms for growth, enabling continued investment in retail destinations nationwide.”
Primark is continuing to invest in its stores across the UK.
As part of its ongoing investments, it is aiming to complete the roll-out of its popular Click & Collect service to all its UK stores by this summer. The service arrived in its Leeds White Rose store earlier this year, with the most popular items across luggage and childrenswear.
Last month, the retailer‘s chief executive Paul Marchant resigned from his role with immediate effect following an investigation into alleged inappropriate behaviour towards a female colleague.
Its parent company Associated British Foods said an investigation was launched after a claim was brought forward against Marchant by an individual about his behaviour towards her in a social environment.
