Danish homewares retailer Søstrene Grene is gearing up for further European growth with plans to enter Italy and Poland in 2026, as it aims to reach 500 stores by 2027.

The expansion follows strong trading across the UK and wider European markets, with the company anticipating record revenue and profit for its latest financial year.

“Despite ongoing economic headwinds, we continue to see strong footfall and engagement across our stores,” said Group CEO and co-owner Mikkel Grene. “We believe in the long-term relevance of physical retail — especially when it offers discovery, inspiration and emotional connection.”

With plans to double its UK store count by 2027, the Danish homewares brand is also expanding into Italy and Poland next year, supported by new local ecommerce platforms.

The brand also plans to open online stores in Finland and Spain, relaunching its presence in Spain as an online-only retailer backed by a strong social media following.

This expansion is backed by major investments in infrastructure, including a new 45,000-square-metre logistics centre in the Netherlands and a global rollout of SAP technology, both aimed at scaling operations efficiently.

The company has also developed a dedicated venture team exploring new retail concepts. One pilot project, Lillesøster (Little Sister), a compact, high-frequency store format, is set to launch this summer in Zurich.
