Naked Wines has named Jack Pailing as its non-executive chair, taking over from interim chair Deirdre Runnette.

Pailing, who steps into the role with immediate effect, has served as the wine specialist’s senior independent director since March.

The wine specialist, which is pushing ahead with its turnaround, claimed the appointment provided continuity in leadership, as the business continued to execute its new strategic plan that it unveiled at its strategy event in March.

Runnette is set to continue serving as a non-executive director and will return to her role as senior independent director.

Pailing said: “It’s an honour to be selected to serve as Chair of Naked Wines, a business I have known well for many years as a shareholder and customer, and more recently as a non-executive director.

“I look forward to continuing to work hard to create value for all our shareholders, employees and other stakeholders, alongside our CEO, Rodrigo Maza, and my trusted and valued board colleagues.”

In March, Naked Wines announced that founder Rowan Gormley would be stepping down from the company with immediate effect, following the launch of its new strategic plan.

Last year, the brand also named Dominic Neary as its new CFO, as it posted widening losses amid a slowdown in demand.
