Poundland has confirmed the locations of another dozen stores earmarked for closure under its restructuring plan.

The next tranche of stores takes the total identified to 52 out of 68, with 13 having closed so far and 15 more planned for 17 August, The Grocer reported.

A dozen units are also set to close on 24 August, with 11 more closing on 31 August and one in Irvine on 14 September.

The discount chain, acquired by former Laura Ashley owner Gordon Brothers in June, has been left waiting for leases to expire until it receives court approval later this month.

Following its restructuring plan, the retailer hopes to shrink its store estate from 800 nationwide to between 650 and 700.

Poundland kicked off a large-scale clearance sale at the beginning of the month, offering hundreds of items across categories such as toiletries, children’s toys, and seasonal products on its website from as little as 10p.

It comes as the retailer is winding down its online operations under its ongoing restructuring plan, which also sees a reduction in frozen and chilled foods.

The stripped back grocery offer will see the closure of the Poundland’s frozen and digital distribution centre in Darton, South Yorkshire later this year and its national distribution centre at Springvale in Bilston, West Midlands in early 2026. Delivery volumes will be absorbed into its existing warehouses in Wigan and Harlow.

Stores closing on 17 August include Bedford, Bidston Moss, Broxburn, Craigavon, Dartmouth, East Dulwich, Falmouth, Hull St Andrews, Newtonabbey, Perth, Poole, Sunderland, Stafford, Thornaby and Worcester.

Stores earmarked for closure on 24 August are Brigg, Canterbury, Coventry, Newcastle, Kings Heath, Peterborough, Peterlee, Rainham, Salford, Sheldon, Wells and Whitechapel.

Stores set to close on 31 August include Blackburn, Cookstown, Erdington, Kimberley, Horsham, Hull Holderness, Kettering, Omagh, Shepherd’s Bush, Southport and Taunton.
