Supermarket chain Asda has launched its first fixed price meal deal as part of its food to go offering.
The meal deal includes a main, snack and drink for £3.74, which it says makes it the lowest priced non-membership meal deal on the market, with no loyalty cards required to access the savings.
The new offer, which is predicted to sell over 700,000 meal deals in its first week, will replace Asda’s current 3 for 2 deal at its food to go counters.
The meal deal is available in all stores and online, including Asda Express stores.
Using the deal, Asda noted that customers would be able to save up to 50% in comparison to buying the items individually outside of the meal deal.
The offer includes a selection of Asda’s own label ‘to go’ products, as well as branded products such as its Doritos tangy cheese tortilla grab bag crisps and Coca Cola Zero.
Asda said that all products within its food to go fixture were included in the set price, with 132 mains, 336 snacks and 222 drinks to choose from.
Asda buyer of food to go Amy Wotherspoon said: “At Asda, we believe great value should be available to everyone.
“That’s why we’re launching the new £3.74 meal deal that is completely open to all customers – with no app or membership required, and a big range of products to choose from so there’s something for everyone.”
Asda joins Pret in launching a meal deal, with the retailer testing the offering in the UK this autumn as part of a wider push to deliver better value and drive lunchtime trade.
In August, Tesco raised the cost of its meal deals by 25p, with the price increasing from £3.60 to £3.85 with a Clubcard and from £4 to £4.25 without.
