Morrisons has named former Nisa boss Peter Batt as its new operations director for convenience stores.
Batt served as managing director of Nisa from 2022 to 2024, working in partnership with stores at 4,000 locations.
Prior to this, he spent a decade as divisional managing director of rival grocer Co-op, with accountability for more than 1,200 shops.
He also spent almost 20 years at Sainsbury’s, holding various roles across the supermarket’s operations, commercial and convenience divisions.
Additionally, he has sat on the boards of the Federation of Wholesale Distributors and the Association of Convenience Stores.
Posting on LinkedIn, Morrisons said: “We’re delighted to welcome Peter Batt to Morrisons as our new operations director for our company owned convenience business.
“Peter brings over 30 years experience in the food industry, having led at board level and across large-scale retail operations.”
In August, Morrisons appointed former Aldi director Andy Gillies as its new logistics director.
Gillies previously worked as group logistics director for food manufacturer Greencore from 2022 to 2025, having formerly worked as its business unit director, direct to store from 2016 until 2022.
