Tesco’s website went down this morning, leaving customers across the UK unable to complete online orders.
The grocer’s site began experiencing issues shortly after 8am, with shoppers reporting that product pages were failing to load and checkout attempts returned error messages.
Outage tracker DownDetector registered more than 1,200 complaints by 8.30am, while frustrated customers also took to social media to report problems accessing both the website and app.
Some posts highlighted the impact on everyday shopping, with one user writing: “Desperately need to add shopping to my nan’s order and the app and web is down. She’ll blame me if it’s not added. Help!”
Another said: “@Tesco app not working and online grocery site not working. Can’t spend my money!”
Some users said refreshing the page restored limited functionality, though disruption remained ongoing.
Tesco has confirmed the issue has now been resolved. A spokesperson told Retail Gazette: “We’ve fixed a technical issue that very briefly affected our app and website earlier this morning. We apologise for the inconvenience.”
The outage comes as the UK’s largest supermarket continues to grow its digital operations. In its most recent quarter to 24 May, Tesco reported group like-for-like sales up 4.6%.
The retailer has previously faced similar online disruptions, including an IT glitch in April 2025 that affected hundreds of customers.
