Aldi is accelerating its UK expansion with plans to open 16 new stores between Thursday 6 November and Friday 12 December 2025, bringing its trademark low prices and fresh produce to more shoppers in the crucial run-up to Christmas.
The new stores will located across the country, with locations including Scotland, Staffordshire, Essex and London, giving more communities access to Aldi’s value-driven offer and its popular Specialbuys range.
The UK’s fourth-largest supermarket chain is investing £650 million this year through its nationwide store opening and refurbishment programme, with each new location expected to create around 40 jobs.
Aldi has also confirmed a £1.6 billion investment plan over the next two years, pledging to open 40 stores annually as part of its wider growth strategy.
“At Aldi, we’re focused on making affordable, high-quality food accessible to as many people as possible – and opening new stores is at the heart of how we do that,” Aldi UK Managing Director of National Real Estate said.
“Launching 16 new stores in just over five weeks is a significant milestone for our business and a clear demonstration of the pace and ambition behind our growth plans.
“It means more communities will benefit from Aldi’s value and choice in the weeks ahead and beyond.”
To support increased demand over the festive period, the supermarket has launched a nationwide recruitment drive for more than 4,500 additional store colleagues.
The roles will help with restocking, customer assistance and day-to-day store operations during the busy Christmas trading season.
Aldi said new employees will benefit from its position as Britain’s best-paying supermarket, with store assistants earning from £13.02 per hour nationally and from £14.35 within the M25 from September 2025.
