Co-op has unveiled its latest “on the go” format store in Kingston upon Thames, its first in the London area.
Opening in Clarence Street, the convenience retailer’s “on the go” store is focused on serving breakfast, lunch and dinner in new formats, from traditional meal deals to the inclusion of a hot food serve-over counter, coffee, pastries, pizza and deli-inspired selections.
The 550 sq ft Kingston site is Co-op’s fourth new concept store.
The business said the shop “evolves” Co-op’s convenience expertise, “taking cues from around the world to meet consumer demand for fast, high quality ‘food-for-now,’” via catering to meals on-the-go throughout the day.
The new store is open from 7am to 7pm to serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, with online delivery also available.
New product development exclusive to the format includes all day breakfast meal pots, berry burst bircher and, apple and cinnamon overnight oats.
A new deli-selection also serves offerings for lunch, such as smoked salmon, egg and spinach pots; sweet potato bhaji wrap; falafel and houmous salad bowls; chicken, bacon and avocado caesar wrap and, tomato, mozzarella and pesto focaccia bagels.
Seating is available with phone charging points, and the store includes hot noodles, bakery goods, pastries and a small range of “daily essentials” including fresh fruit, tea, coffee and bread.
The grocery chain said that it was focusing its new chain of stores in “vibrant, high foot-flow locations”.
Co-op area operations manager Jane Wells said: “The whole team is excited to launch our new concept store in Kingston where we are really looking forward to being part of the vibrant community, and welcoming members and customers into their new Co-op store.
“Differing to our traditional convenience stores, whether working, shopping or socialising in the high street area, our new store is here to offer breakfast, lunch or dinner on-the-go.”
