Modella Capital is in advanced talks to snap up privately owned footwear company Wynsors World of Shoes, according to reports from Sky News.
Retail industry sources said the private equity firm is now the likeliest buyer of Wynsors, with a deal potentially being agreed before the end of the year.
The shoe retailer has been looking into a sale for the past two months, and took on consulting adviser RSM to explore interest from prospective bidders.
Modella Capital managing director Joe Price said: “We are committed to trying to return Wynsors to financial health, but we recognise that doing so will be challenging.
“The issues this business faces are significant, but we will work with all interested parties to try and turn Wynsors around.”
Retail Gazette has contacted Wynsors World of Shoes for comment.
It comes after WHSmith sold its UK high street arm to Modella Capital earlier this year for £76m, as it pivoted to focus solely on its travel retail division.
Modella also acquired The Original Factory Shop in February and bought Hobbycraft in August 2024.
