Quiz slashes prices further as it ramps up clearance drive

Quiz on verge of administration

Quiz Clothing is rolling out deeper discounts across its estate, as its joint administrators continue to assess options for the business.

Further markdowns have now been applied across all categories in a bid to drive footfall and clear remaining inventory.

Boots are being discounted by at least 50 per cent, while all other footwear is reduced by a minimum of 40 per cent. Dresses, handbags and accessories are now at least 30 per cent off, with the remainder of the range reduced by no less than 20 per cent.

It comes after the fashion retailer entered administration earlier this month, with its online store closing and more than 100 redundancies  confirmed following a tough Christmas trading period.

“As we continue to explore options for the business, we would encourage shoppers to visit their nearest stores, with further discounts available on all remaining stock,” said Interpath Scotland head and joint administrator Alistair McAlinden.

Interpath managing director and joint administrator Geoff Jacobs added: “We’d once again like to pass on our profound thanks to Quiz’ dedicated staff who have shown such professionalism since our appointment.”

Founded in Scotland in 1993, Quiz operates stores across the UK and concessions in the Republic of Ireland.

In recent years, company said it had faced increasingly challenging trading conditions, citing a drop in Christmas sales as well as ongoing pressures from changing consumer habits, business rates and higher employment costs.

It is not the first time the embattled fashion retailer has fallen in administration, with the business last year agreeing to a pre-pack administration deal, which saw its then remaining assets acquired by Orion Retail, a subsidiary controlled by the founding Ramzan family.
