John Lewis has opened its online Christmas shop 17 weeks before Christmas, with the retailer reporting searches for “Christmas” jumped by more than 33 per cent immediately after the World Cup final.
The high street retailer is opening its even offering 70 per cent of its Christmas tree offering pre-lit this year.
The headline product is the Aylesford Super Pre-Lit tree, featuring more than 4,200 bulbs.
John Lewis is also expanding its range of decorations, felt animals and six characterful yetis, alongside the return of its Santa’s Tea Parties in selected stores.
John Lewis says it expects to sell enough trees to cover the equivalent of 12 Premier League football pitches, while its baubles could form a line from London to Paris.
The early launch comes as the retailer says customers are increasingly planning Christmas well ahead of December.
“We are absolutely thrilled to officially launch our Christmas shop online. This year, we’re helping customers craft a truly magical home, from trees adorned with heirloom-inspired decorations to thoughtful, curated gifting,” said John Lewis head of Christmas Cydney Ball.
“My personal favorite? Our enchanting collection of felt mice! Whether they are inspired by nostalgic past times, festive treats, or iconic pop culture figures, these charming characters are the perfect way to add a touch of whimsy and wonder to your tree.”
