Currys has nearly tripled the size of its London headquarters at WeWork’s 10 York Road in Waterloo, as the retailer doubles down on its hybrid working model.
The omnichannel electricals retailer will expand its space from 6,700 sq ft to 18,200 sq ft, following continued investment in flexible workspace as part of its broader ‘people and productivity’ strategy.
Currys said its hybrid model, which enables employees to choose how and when they work from the office, has delivered strong results across engagement and productivity.
Internal data showed that 93 per cent of office-based colleagues said hybrid working had improved their work-life balance, while 92 per cent reported a positive impact on productivity.
A further 91 per cent said it had boosted both wellbeing and job satisfaction.
The retailer added that it now ranks among the top five per cent of companies globally for colleague engagement.
Paula Coughlan, chief people, communications and sustainability officer at Currys, said the expansion reflects the success of the model.
“We’re really proud of our hybrid model, which has delivered fantastic benefits for our colleagues, our customers and our business,” she said.
“Our colleague engagement is at record levels – helped by the flexibility offered by hybrid working. Our most recent financial results show that hybrid working and commercial success can flourish together.”
The expanded space will maintain a consistent workplace experience, combining collaborative areas, breakout spaces and access to WeWork’s wider network. Employees will also be able to use more than 40 WeWork locations across the UK, alongside international sites, via membership access.
Luke Armstrong, regional president for EMEA and APAC at WeWork, said the move demonstrates the growing role of flexible workspace in enterprise strategy.
“By leveraging WeWork’s built-in flexibility, Currys has almost tripled its footprint while remaining in the same central location,” he said.
“More broadly, their expansion reflects a forward-thinking approach to how and where teams work.”
The announcement comes as Currys continues to deliver strong trading momentum, having upgraded profit guidance earlier this year following like-for-like revenue growth of 6 per cent over the Christmas period.
