Bedkingdom expands warehouse operations with Wakefield acquisition

Online furniture retailer Bedkingdom has expanded its warehouse operations after acquiring a new facility in Wakefield.

The new unit will support the retailer’s growth plans as it broadens its product range beyond beds and mattresses into wider furniture categories.

Bedkingdom said the facility will provide additional stock capacity, improve logistics efficiency and enable faster fulfilment for customers across the UK.

The business, which was originally founded as a specialist bed retailer, has steadily expanded its offer in recent years as it looks to position itself as a broader online furniture destination.

Bedkingdom chief operating officer Levon Hall said the new site would help the retailer build on its recent growth.

“We’ve seen strong growth as we’ve expanded beyond beds into a wider furniture offering,” he said.

“This new facility gives us the space and infrastructure we need to continue that momentum and better serve our customers.”

The warehouse acquisition comes as Bedkingdom continues a wider brand evolution, having recently undergone a visual and strategic refresh.

“Our brand has had a facelift, and this marks a new chapter for Bedkingdom,” Hall said.

“We’re focused on building a more comprehensive furniture destination while maintaining the value and service our customers have come to expect.”

Bedkingdom was founded in 2011 with a £400 investment and initially sold mattresses online.

The retailer now employs 49 people and operates several own-brand furniture ranges, including Flair Furnishings, Noomi, Recoil and Solace+Co, while also curating a collection of boutique furniture brands.
