Majestic Wine has appointed former Direct Wines boss Greg Hodder as a non-executive director. 

Hodder, who has been CEO of Charles Tyrwhitt Shirts since 2008, was previously Chief Exec of Direst Wines for 14 years. He has also held senior positions at kitchen and home designer Smallbone USA and publishing business Folio Society. 

“We are delighted to have secured such an experienced and highly-recommended appointment to the board. Greg’s past experience will provide us with additional high-level strategic and operational support as we grow the business,” Chief Executive Rowan Gormley said in a statement. 

Today, recently recruited John Colley steps up to take on his new role as Managing Director. It was announced last week that Majestic had hired Colley, who brings with him more than 20 years of senior retail experience. His last position was as CEO of Praxis Netherlands, a Holland-based DIY chain, and he has also spent time in senior positions at Kingfisher, as Commercial and Marketing Director at B&Q and Commercial Director at Screwfix.
