Shop Direct ecommerce director Jonathan Wall resigns

Shop Direct group ecommerce director Jonathan Wall is set to leave the online retailer after seven years.

Wall is expected to exit in the latter half of this summer.

He joined the online retailer — which owns Very and Littlewoods — in 2010 after spending two years as chief executive of Flowersdirect.co.uk.

“When I arrived at Shop Direct, we were still very much a catalogue-focused business,” Wall said.

“Our ambition was to grow online to 70 per cent of total sales by the end of 2010 – a target that we smashed thanks to the relentless drive of the outstanding ecommerce team we have here.

“To look at everything the business has achieved since then – in particular making the bold decision to cut the catalogue last year to become 100 per cent online, while continuing to hit record sales and profits — makes me extremely proud.

“Shop Direct has huge ambitions for the future and, while the time is right for me to go after something new, I have no doubt that the team here will continue to succeed.”

Wall’s resignation comes less than a month after Very Exclusive managing director Sarah Curran announced her intention to step down from her role at the end of this month.

In addition, last week Shop Direct axed plans to sell the business due to a lack of interest from potential bidders.
