Gymshark Regent Street store opening delayed

// Gymshark regent street will now open on 29 October, not the 1 October date originally slated, due to “mitigating circumstances”
// The athleisure giant’s first flagship will include a sweat room, a Joe & the Juice and a hub to host podcasts, panels, Sunday brunch clubs and more

Gymwear lovers will have to wait a little longer until they can visit the highly-anticipated first Gymshark store as the doors to its flagship will now open on 29 October, not October 1 due to “mitigating circumstances”.

A Gymshark spokesperson said “we would like to apologise for any inconvenience this has caused to our community.”

The Birmingham-based activewear giant‘s first-ever permanent bricks-and-mortar 18,000sq store at 165 Regent Street has been in the works for over a year and will feature a sweat room, pro brench where experts will offer up fitness advice and more.

The retailer said the flagship will be “a place for our community to experience the essence of Gymshark” alongside selling its gymwear.

Gymshark said, “despite many forecasting the death of the high street and bricks & mortar in retail, we don’t buy into that.”

“We’re bullish on its future and we are determined to prove it. So, in December 2021, we announced that we would be taking over 18,000 square feet at 165 Regent Street.

Chief executive and founder Ben Francis said: “I keep having to pinch myself that we’re going to have a flagship store on one of the most prestigious streets in the world. And now, we have an opening date, it’s all getting very real.

“The team have done an absolutely incredible job creating a store like no other and the experiences are going to be unbelievable. But what I’m most excited about, especially after the past couple of years, is that we get to hang out with our amazing community on a daily basis. I cannot wait.”
