Asos is set to cut more than 200 head office roles amid rising losses at the retailer.

The move comes as the fashion giant pushes ahead with “simplifying the organisation” and returning to profit, according to The Mirror.

A consultation on the proposed job cuts has begun, with business analysts, engineering managers, and platform leads among those at risk.

Asos has also proposed creating various other roles, and claimed it wanted to employ more product managers and software engineers at the firm.

Speaking to Retail Gazette, the retailer said: “The restructure will not change our overall number of employees but will ensure we have the right roles and capability to develop the most exciting experience for our customers.”

A message to staff, seen by the newspaper, explained the retailer’s current set-up was “no longer suitable for today’s business priorities and context”.

It added: “We need to move faster and deliver more”.

In April, the fashion giant saw it losses widen to £120m in its half year, as sales plummeted amid its turnaround plan.

CEO José Antonio Ramos Calamonte said: “Asos is becoming a faster and more agile business, and we are reiterating our guidance for the full year as we lay the foundations for sustainably profitable growth in full-year 2025 and beyond.”
